“No appeal for witnesses? No news of arrests?“
Not seen anything.
High chance driver was arrested.
But....
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Some children have written their names on James Harrison's ghost bike in felt pen.
I guess they'd no idea what it was and the ink will fade.
@covoshepherd. I spotted that.. another tragic event. Speculation but I assume that road would be quiet?
The route between Duns and Chrirnside is fairly straight and open with only a few sharp turns or juntions on the whole way.

Absolutely horrifying that someone could be killed here.
@gembo sir I know nothing about it but agreed absolutely tragic and the road must have been quiet
@cocosheperd,indeed and @ 14westfield is saying straight road.
Tragic waste of life Christmas morning, quiet, relatively straight road.
Stay safe everyone
Terrible, scary story behind this.

Men arrested over cyclist Tony Parsons disappearance
Two men have been arrested in connection with the disappearance of a man who went missing more than three years ago during a charity cycle ride. Tony Parsons, from Tillicoultry, was last seen on 29 September 2017 outside the Bridge of Orchy Hotel but no trace of him or his bike has ever been found.
Police have confirmed that two men, both aged 29, were arrested on Wednesday. They were released pending further inquiries.
The former navy officer, who was 63 when he went missing, was last seen outside the hotel at about 23:30. He then continued south along the A82 in the direction of Tyndrum but there were no more sightings of him after that.

Been following this case and often think of it on night sections of Audaxes. In fact it's what prompted me to carry a foil blanket. Did not expect a 'twist' like that..
@crowriver
And what might that terrible scary story be?
@CocoShepherd, why would a cyclist riding at might disappear without trace, and why might two men be arrested in connection with that disappearance three years later?
That is grim. Think of that guy often, whenever I think of Bridge of Orchy in fact.
@crowriver
I gathered that much but I thought you might've had a bit more insight. Hopefully justice will prevail and his family get some closure.
I think it has been pretty obvious that his disappearance wasn't just a simple accident.
I think it has been pretty obvious that his disappearance wasn't just a simple accident.
I was never so convinced (and sadly now likely to be wrong). Thought it was more likely to be a tragic accident hidden by remote and / or dense undergrowth.
Let's hope there's some closure either way.
"Proceedings are now live under the Contempt of Court Act 1981."
That means no further commenting on this sad case until after the trial has concluded.
---
The primary function of CCA 1981 is to protect the integrity of active court proceedings. It prohibits the media from publishing information that will prejudice ongoing legal cases and in particular trials before juries.
A strict liability rule is introduced by CCA 1981. Under this, any conduct that interferes with the course of justice can be treated as contempt of court, even when there is no intention to interfere. This rule applies only to publications, ie, any form of communication addressed to any section of the public or the public at large.

Given we know nothing I don't think this is a big issue? Poor guy and his poor family.
Bit more info. Hillwalkers will know Auch Estate

Readers of Overlander will know Auch and Invermearnan Estate.
Remains confirmed as Tony’s :( - more information from allegedly informed locals available on $socialmediasite...
@edinburgh87, yes I read those rumours too but will not repeat here as sub judice and maybe better (and wiser) if we wait for the outcome of any future proceedings.
@crowriver - fair enough, I don't seem to have the ability either to delete or edit my post but if an admin wants to remove reference to a popular social media platform, please do.

All gone very quiet on the Tony Parsons case. You’d think finding his remains illicitly buried close to where he disappeared would give the police a wealth of evidence to work on.
@Murun I thought arrests were made?
@gembo 2 young men arrested at the time (actually before body discovery) and released ‘pending further inquiries’. Now 7 months since remains discovered and nearly 4 years since Tony’s disappearance and no sign of charges. Worth keeping an eye on whether justice is grinding slowly or is going to grind at all in this case.
Two charged in the Tony Parsons case. Was thinking about it the other day, coincidentally.
