To be clear, the person I knew (slightly, Mr fimm knew him more than I did) was the man who was killed on Mount Vernon Road.

Anger and sadness that this should have happened @fimm
Been a horrible week for city cycling.

Tragic, and the EEN caption true to form advises he "died while the bike he was cycling collided with a van" - that phraseology absolutely infuriates me

Could have been any one of us at any junction on the south of the city. It's an utter free for all.

The only questions are who's next and when.

I know this sort of thing brings it close to home just normally and not at all trying to make this about myself, but this one is particularly shocking. Even though I didn't know him personally James lived in my street, had two kids (like me) and commuted to work regularly by bike (like me).

Absolutely terrible and so very sad. Hugging my own kids close today.

If something is happening I don't know about it and would like to know.

Some discreet feelers have gone out to those who knew him, suggesting being at the location 1 week on, so 8.45 on Thursday. More when I hear back...

as was done for Zhi Min Soh?

As others have said, could have been any of us. If it's appropriate with respect to the bereaved, we'll be there to show our respects and our socially distant anger towards years of total inaction and empty words.

I'll be there. I could advertise via the same channels as for Zho Min Soh but not sure if appropriate or if the family would want it.

It seems a child & parent have been hit by a driver mounting the pavement on Morningside Road - there's a heavy police presence so I only hope the worst hasn't happened.

(just noticed this thread is for collisions with people on bikes - sorry)

  22. Fire engine in the photos on the report as well. Fingers crossed for them both :(

    “sorry“

Not a problem (this is CCE).

Thread was originally about one incident and unfortunately developed.

One driver was furious about the road closures due to the accident and got out of his car, shouting that there is no way to ‘get out of town’.
