Prile of CCE 3s in that article (if Cycle Alex is the Alex mentioned?)

Excellent piece and detailed. Are comments disabled?

Nice work @Wilmington's Cow. But who is Mister French?

Hey, well done Mr Robson and Mr French. I don't remember seeing such a good article on cycling in the EEN.

Well done Mr W. Cow et al.

To see a factual and rational article is a joy.

Nice article although they are still insisting James Harrison's bike collided with a van.

It's also rather worrying that the only mention of a driver being arrested is the one incident where there were no other casualties.

Does anyone know what happened to Zhi Min Soh's ghost bike? Seems to have vanished. If by request then that's obviously all good, but if not then it's not so good.

I thought I saw it last week on my journey back from the vigil. It was looking a bit faded, but still there.

Possibly related - there is now a ghost bike at the Kingston Avenue crossroads.

Just to make clear, my article should be in the Scotsman tomorrow - I saw the edited version today, and "... was hit by a driver..." got changed to "... collided with a car..."

Worries over suggesting guilt, and being sued. I'd have pointed out the unlikely nature of this, got into a debate on semantics, brought up my legal profession, but the rest is basically untouched from what I could see, and they weren't going to back down on it.

I’ve been told that bike rider in Preston/Clerk St incident died.

Not seen anything about it - true or not.

The lack of information is a bit unnerving IMO. I can understand the family of the (hopefully 'just' injured, vs killed) victim not wanting him / her named, but it's beyond bizarre that there's nothing from PS etc. Here's hoping that the driver wasn't someone 'too big'..

    Yet another.

    https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/crime/easter-road-crash-arrest-made-after-cyclist-injured-crash-edinburgh-29244

A 41-year-old man has been arrested and a cyclist has been injured after a crash on Easter Road.

The incident happened around 3.30 pm on Sunday at the corner of Easter Road and Dalmeny Street.

A 25-year-old male cyclist was taken by ambulance to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for what appears to be leg injuries.

His condition has been described as stable.

The 41-year old driver of the Mazda was not injured.

Police have confirmed that a 41-year-old man has been charged with alleged road traffic offences and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

I think that this is the victim of the East Preston St incident that started this whole thread:

. in June few days before James Harrison was so sadly killed cycling to work there was another serious collision in Newington in which 24 year old Gabor who was cycling to the Little France Bioquarter was left with in intensive care in a coma through no fault of his own

Gabor is finally making excellent progress but has a period of rehabilitation to go. His partner Viktoria who also works in medical research has combined with his workmates to set up a modest fundraiser. Please contribute if you can and let them know you are a fellow cyclist

here is the link to the gofundme site. gofundme.com/f/a-ride-towar… When asked which team member choose Edita who set up the crowdfunder if you prefer another workmate has been making beautiful masks you can buy for a donation ( details later)

Ok, so the *reason* that there’s been no (apparent) coverage is that he wasn’t killed.

    WHAT ABOUT THE DRIVER??

On the 26th of September 2020, members of the Grant Lab (Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences, University of Edinburgh) are taking up a challenge to cycle Glasgow – Edinburgh (90 km) to raise funds for our colleague and friend Gabor's recovery.

Early in the morning on Monday 23rd of June 2020, our lab colleague and friend was hit at high speed by a car while cycling to work. This terrible accident, which was no fault of his own, has left him very severely injured, with head and multiple other injuries. Our colleague has spent several weeks in intensive care. He is now out of an induced coma, but a several-month recovery and rehabilitation period lies ahead.

    My bold.

No appeal for witnesses? No news of arrests?
