Google planning to buy Fitbit, petition against to protect privacy

    Google is planning to buy Fitbit, but there are serious concerns about what would happen regarding personal data, especially health related data, stored by FitBit devices, and how it would probably be misused in ways users would not want, if Google were to be able to go ahead with this (especially given Google's past record of data misuse).

    Privacy International have launched a petition to object to the acquisition going ahead.

    I can see that the combined data set of everyone's search terms and heart rate might be a valuable thing.
