Good news for some of us - the Univ of Edb staff cycle to work scheme ups its limit from £1k to £3k next week. Includes ebikes. It's the Halfords scheme but vouchers work at lots of others. The webpage says scheme details upcoming. The details can be q important - difference between paying 7% final payment at 12 mth point or paying zero at 48 mths point. Fingers crossed on that.

3k seemed excessive til I saw it included e-bikes. Hope they have pretty secure storage, anyone with a bolt cutters will find UoE irresistible knowing it has plenty of bikes worth 3k

There are some secure cycle stores on campus, but not enough. I'd be willing to contribute to a crowdfunder to get more, TBH - the chances are pretty slim of getting the University to pay for anything like that just now.

Does/should SG/Sustrans have an appropriate fund?

For the George Square area the Bristo bike store still had plenty of space before lockdown. It's down a ramp, but the double gates and modern CCTV should be good for security.

That said, I'd hope a 3k e-bike came with some sort of immobiliser.
