Very much a long shot but I'm aware of a charity cycle ride taking place relating to a community organisation in Bogota, connected to Gateshead by a volunteer Sam Ling Gibson who tragically passed away last year. The fundraising effort is being joined by Sam's brother Joe who is returning to the UK on Monday. Joe is 6' 8" but doesn't have a bike in the UK to use. I heard about this last night, and I know it's an extremely long shot, but this is the only online cycling community I'm aware of and even though it's a tiny possibility that someone might be able to assist it's still a possibility - should anyone be in a position to offer a large bike for a loan until the end of the month (I think).

More info on the effort here.

Gears or not? Rack? Lights? Don't know that my singlespeed's seat post has much more left (I'm 6'½"ish) but the geared LHT-frame seat post could, and has a longer reach.

@wingpig you are bigger than That.

If you let your hair grow I reckon you would be 6 feet and 1 inch high

If you have a bit more info about the cycle being proposed, road.cc would be a good shout.

Thanks - just trying to find out if gears are required. I don't yet know where the cycling is taking place but would expect it to be on road. Will post back as soon as I know.

Apologies for the delay, it has taken until now to get further info.

Cycling on roads and old railway tracks so "reasonably chunky tyres on a road bike". Joe is able to construct a bike around a frame as he is very capable that way and there are lots of bike parts to hand. Key issue is lack of a large frame. Happy to pay a reasonable amount if one were available. Gears will be required as there are hills. They are looking but haven't found anything so far.

I do have a very large unused road frame in the shed, but it has almost no bike on it and would need weird stuff like long-drop caliper brakes, downtube shifters and handlebars fitting a 1" quill stem.
Large fully-functioning LHT with gears has 35mm Specialised Nimbus on it at the moment - as used to go on Iain McR's jaunt from Tweedbank to Porty across various bits of Lammermuir. Want me to measure the reach and max inside leg with the saddle raised as high as it goes? Would obviously need it back in one piece but don't need it for commuting for the foreseeable.

wingpig - fabulous that you're prepared to that so yes please to the inside leg measurement.

OK. Should be back home to relieve the tiger at 1900ish.

what @wingpig is offering is far superior, but I have a 62cm frame Claude Butler Regent from the late 80s in good nick - it's a good bike but obviously it doesn't have all the mod-cons of modern bikes like sti shifters/electric windows etc. - it fits me well - I am 6'4. I need to replace the chain and put a seat on it but otherwise Joe would be very welcome to it. Click on pic for slightly bigger image

algo - thank you so much for that offer, I have passed it on. It's Joe's first full day back in the UK so might be his first chance to assess what's what. Timescale likely to change now as he is self-isolating for two weeks.

wingpig - I sent you a pm last night but a copy came to my email so I'm not sure if you received it or if I just sent it to myself.

“but a copy came to my email so I'm not sure if you received it or if I just sent it to myself”

That should mean it’s working ok (it can seem a bit confusing and I can’t remember if there is a ‘turn off message to self’ option)

Yep, received it. It also emailed me to tell me about my own reply to the first PM.

Algo's has a bigger frame. I have a spare seat? Might have a not-yet-used 9-speed chain hiding somewhere, though steveo was offering one on the Multicoloured Swapshop thread.

We are ending the search for a loan bike as Joe is going to cobble something together using 'big wheels' (his previous bike was stolen).

A big thank you for the very generous offers to help which has meant so much to the family. Your kindness and consideration is also a great positive in a world gone mad (in my little bubble anyway).
