@Roibeard I suppose that there's a continuum here - although my experience is more with diving.

Reading Treasure Islands at moment. Amazing tales of diving and salvaging on wrecks around Scotland, including the Oceania in Foula. Almost as good as Overlander!

Adventure and uncertainty are all very well but they won't cover for you when you're still waist deep in Rannoch Moor at 9am on Monday.

I think these things are helpful even if you are adventurous. If you've only got two weekends a year to get dirty or you are based away from the location you might not want to just head off into the hills and risk a pretty rubbish trip.

I've no problem striking off on a GPx track I've sat and planned in a nice warm office but odds are even if the running/walking/cycling isn't great its no big deal because it'll be a local trip and not my one week "in Scotland".

    Or what @roibeard said.

For the record I am also not adventurous!

(not sure I'm fit or competent either mind)

And have spent way too much time up to my knees in bog from GPx tracks planed in a nice warm office.

I tried being adventurous once but I didn't like it.

I had quite an adventure today coming down red road as brakes not working brilliantly. Did manage to stop right before the gate. Was fun

Not sure if brakes not quite working should be your biography title or prog rock band.

    Charge sheet for the mechanic?

What was the origin of the malfunction? Was your rim clarty?

I was tempted to offer @gembo a shot on the SUNLIT Uplander but fearful of what he would make of the anchors.

Last thing I want is to see him sailing over that bike's fancy swept bars.

I must admit I'm wanting to try some of these routes once lockdown lifts sufficiently.

    @mcairney

That is good. It is a fine initiative.

I did this one out of Dunkeld with Mrs Paddy on Monday - had a holiday when kids were in school.

Rumbling Bridge was closed due to a big hole in the side, but it was easy enough to shoogle past the barriers.

Really enjoyed it and extended along the river bank in Birnam. The big trees there are spectacular.

Highly recommended. I'm looking forward to doing a few longer rides in coming months. Will be lovely in autumn.
