    Was super windy this morning so I bailed from the Whang up Buteland - 4 patch’s of vivid yellow Stocks (lovely flowers) and round to do some reps on Beech Ave.

    Rep 1 was uneventful on way up but had car hurtling at me on descent so I pulled over, char lady for the castle waved cheerfully

    Rep 2 had super cautious dad I know descending with his son. Then two posh gals having natter at top (I recognised one of them who was less posh). I turn before the Castle clock the view of the three bridges then hurtle down. The poshest gal was keen to comment on my quick return. I said I will be back in 5 mins

    Rep 3 The posh gals are basically watching me struggle up. As I reach the top the posher one says - are they with you? Big red sheep shearing van and more char ladies. Like I was cycling with an entourage.

    Made me smile to myself. Third descent no walkers, dogs, kids, chars or nothing just 50mph Yeah Baby

    Respect, gembo. You'll not see me go up that more than once in a ride...

    The Beech avenue is one place where I am aware of my chain being tight.

    The posh lady got the better of you?

    I'm assuming this is the road up from near Threipmuir car park to Bravelaw Castle.
    I know it as "The Exponential"...

    It would have to be a hell of a headwind to induce me to think 3 reps of Exponential hill was a better option.

    Unless this was penance?

    @murun, it is tougher higher up but not exponential As such. As quite tough lower down. But it does not go on that long and Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee on the way down

    If I started from the very bottom on each rep down in balerno then yes. But it is thriepmuir to bavelaw castle not Kingscavil or Talla Wall

    It is all penance for me

    @Diarmid is it still as steep as it was when we were kids? I spotted on Facebook that a class mate who works delivering horses around UK was back in the village and went over the Tattie Brig and up the Linthills. Was looking lush. My other class mate who lived about third of way up is keen gravel, mountain and road bike dude. He likes EK.

    @gembo I think it's actually getting steeper

    @Diarmid I can believe that, but was there a period in the middle when it became less steep?
