Said the boy racer driving slowly towards me on my side of the road.

I had turned off Gilmore Place towards the canal and was about to turn left to where ther traffic wardens coagulate. I was aware of a van parked up on the ramp up to the canal towards Akva so I was in the gutter and it was ca’ canny. This was most fortunate as the boy racer decided to take the corner right over on my side. He was also perhaps watching the van.

I suggested He was on my side of the road. He didn’t like that so I suggested it again. No swearing.

its a relatively low key incident, a surreal retort might have sufficed, but i like to live dangerously so would probably have stretched to "youre reeking of piss, son"

I was cycling on as I retorted. He had the mad look and would have failed certain drug tests.

I've e-mailed Cycling Scotland asking them to include Billy Whiz wrong-side blind corner driving in their next campaign.

We must share the road responsibly.

@gembo: the boy racer decided to take the corner right over on my side

Sounds like you were very restrained in the circumstances.

I absolutely hate it when people cut corners for no reason other than they're too lazy to turn their <rule 2> steering wheel just that little bit more. Especially in built up areas where the corners are usually tight and often fairly blind. Even more so given that modern vehicles have power steering so it's not as if it's even hard work to do it properly. I mean, it's pretty much the first rule of the road you're ever taught: drive on the left. That's the default. You need a good reason to do otherwise, and being lazy and lackadaisical isn't it. And you need to take especial care when you do choose to do it, not just assume that "I drive this way every day and there's never anyone coming the other way", which seems to be a common approach amongst the rat-runners who use my street.

    Sorry. Rant over.

    Thanks@ejstubbs

It was like we were in a rather nasty part of northern France and I was way over on the wrong side. He didn’t cut the corner at all he was a hundred per cent correct if we had been in a grim part of northern France.
