Rollapaluza Coming to Town

    They had to postpone an event in December apparentlry, cos of the weather (but I thought the bikes were on rollers?).

    Tis the night Citycycling is due to go online (10th into the 11th) - but quite fancy going along and having a shot....

    Rollapaluza are once again searching for the UK’s King of Spin and Queen of Cadence, we will be touring the UK with standalone full-on Rollapaluza events. The fastest riders from the six regional events will be invited to represent their region at Grande Finale in London in January 2011 [I assume this will be changed due to the postponement]

    Fast music, fast cycling, beer.

    Prizes by: Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative

    Qualification 'til 9pm then knockout rounds and finals

    Im gonna try and get a crew down, tho i don't know if I will be motivated to qualify, its either stay sober for the next round, have a beer instead or both.

    My neighbour, who raced many moons ago, says that if there's a category for the over-eighties, he'll come! He's got a roller in his front hall, so he'll be in good shape :)

    I think it was the prizes from the bike co-op that really tempted him.

    Someone I know in Glasgow just sent me this -

    Men's contest was strong - times down to 21 sec region - spinning like that ain't my style - some mix from lycra and clean legs to jeans, trainers & T shirt

    Short on women riders - winner was spectator persuaded to ride but returned creditable spinning - one of her heats was around 25 sec for 500m, most hovering around 30 sec
