I noted the number of bicycles in this episode, in the few scenes that weren't shot in darkness.

There is a lot of fumbling around in the darkness in all these Cormorant Strike stories for sure. He seems mostlly to solve the crimes in the streets around his office in Denmark Street with the odd foray into the countryside.

Presumably the difference between actors who have ridden a bicycle before (Grainger, Andrew Lincoln in Teachers and Walking Dead) and those who look like they've never been on one prior to filming (Jonny Lee Miller in the Obree film, Eric Bana in Munich).

Grainger looks very elegant on her cycle. Except for her helmet, she is wearing smart-casual civvies, including a ladylike shoulder bag. She doesn't look like the lycraed freak of dark legend. Let's hope she sets a trend for fashionable urban cycling.

@gembo - I don't know why - it looks like you're about to invade Poland.

'Cravat' is derived from the word 'Hrvat' which is Croatian for 'Croatian'. Croatia had a difficult WWII, and may indeed have cheered on the invasion of Poland in some parts.
