What is wrong with me? My memory of this show are as follows

    1. Jonah Barrington the squash player being deducted about 50 squats as they were not over the line Donny and h8m flouncing off
2.Alan Minter Boxer, RIP today, kayaking with his stronger hand diagonally across the course and complaining he had been pointed in the wrong direction
    3. sir Geoff Capes winning the swimming because a. He is a very good swimmer and b. When he dived in he caused a tsunami that wiped out the opposition

Did Kevin Keegan not have quite a spectacular tumble from a bike? On a blaze track? Memory a bit foggy, possibly due to a Spangles overdose.

Bikes were in the New Superstars. You had to cycle fast up a very steep dirt road. Spangles were on the doping list by then

if you are faint of heart never look at photos of Alan Minter's face after three rounds against Marvellous Marvin Hagler. prior to their bout in 1980 for the World Champion's belt there had been racial slurs. Now Minter would have lost this fight anyway but Marvin had a point to prove which he did so by battering Minter's face to a pulp. the crowd again, not people we might want to meet did not take kindly to minter's corner throwing in the towel due to Cuts

Jody Scheckter on International Superstars - read the rules for what was allowed then read again for what wasn't stated (as is the norm in Formula 1) - turned up for the squat thrusts with feet in bindings, soaked in oil!

@twinspark - good recall. Brian Jacks - he could chin.

Joop Zoetmelk the 5 times TdF runner up and one time winner did well on Superstars IIRC. Will google the sweet milk now

Could take a decade or two to get the rules written down right enough.

Another great nostalgia CCE thread. Remember it well (BRian Jacks & Jody Scheckter) .

For Geoff Capes to compete in that and World's Strongest Man (Remember Jón Páll Sigmarsson?) was very impressive.

Never come across this before. Looks fantastic.
First 4 minutes include 8 men waving awkwardly in tracksuits on a podium and a boxer who doesn't understand how to make a kayak go straight.

I recall someone (possibly Brian Jacks ?) doing those squats in his sock feet so sliding back and forth, but doing so many and so fast he had friction burns which then led to much blood, which then decreased the friction allowing him to do many more.

@arobcomp, yes see point 2 of the original post Alan Minter now dead. 40 years after Marvelous Marvin Haggler taught him a lesson about racism by turning his face to mush.

    Daley what a hero
