We don't appear to have a thread about his creations (I did asked Google, and it couldn't find anything). This seems an omission.

I love his self-deprecating comments in this video.

He is a legend. Catch him on Ch4 Guy Martin show dropping food off on the move to the crew of his 24 hour ride record breaking recumbent tandem design. He rode his 8Freight cargo bike of course with the 'feeder' sitting in rear box.
Shortened cranks for me a couple of times. 155mm is a good length for many recliners! Not an internet email user. Put cranks in box with a cheque (paper money order for younger readers). Send on a Monday. Back on Wednesday.
@arellcat has probably raced him a couple of times!

How do you shorten cranks by 10mm?

The more I think about him, the more I admire the combination of creative genius and the technical ability to build his crazy ideas himself. It's so much easier to challenge convention if you can put your crazy ideas into practice without having to convince anyone else of their merits.

@iwrats - Shortening cranks - Mike likes a SRAM Apex set 175 with solid cranks, ie ones that aren't hollowed out. He then drills out a 15mm thread right and left tap. Cut off the surplus and polish end so a two tone crankset! Kids Racers on web offer same thing so smaller riders can get fitted with a 2 x 10 compact double - MB better value.

@Greenroofer - worth searching out the Guy Martin Speed episode with MB. Guy Martin is a slight cynic on benefits of reformatting a bike till he rides and breaks his best TT effort that he had done on a 'head first' bike. He had to learn to balance an MB Ratracer and admitted he didn't believe and wasn't trying too hard!

When Graeme Obree went for his HPV record Mike was very keen to help but.. . you know the rest!

Edit: Link at the time and includes screenshots from LB now lost in my Flcker stream.
