The first Five Rings Cafe is named after the late, great, Meadowbank Velodrome.
The venue hosted two Commonwealth Games, kickstarted the career of many cycling legends including founder Callum Skinner. Naming our Cafe “Meadowbank” in the city of Edinburgh was a no brainer

@gembo Google maps says there was Penhaligon's, at least since 2010 (Google maps street view history).

Wish Callum and co all he best and sure the interior will have some great cycle related themes for decor.

New coffee shop two is 'Argyle Place' next door to the Bicycle Works. Years in the making it has a roastery plus spacious interior. Only limited opening at moment but coffee very nice from Mr Eoin (also Stockbridge).

    Indeed. Why?

Major excavation into basement and sealing up. Very similar to the now closed Deli Polonia on Leith Walk. At least Meadowbank don't have that problem. Good that bit of velodrome will be used too. Daughter cycled round it once.

    Went in today.

Mrs Garto elicited that it is a pop up. Probably on the remnant of lease owned by Pringle now gone. Before Pringle it was SSTA travel agents.

The shop is called Meander and sells city cycling and walking kit. They also have a shand leveret for sale.

Coffee is good. I also bought beans, which are dear and cleaned them out of crockery as gifts for the four other members of the band I am in.

Yes, the new Rosewell place is good.

Also Carrington village hall has a 'coffee morning' 1030 to 1230 for at least the next 2 Saturdays. Cyclists welcome.

Paid the Carrington Village hall a visit yesterday. Wasn’t the easiest to find but £3 for a coffee and a bacon roll isn’t to be sniffed at! Cash only and they are very generous with the bacon. Had a wee chat with one of the committee members too

@gembo: My memory may be awry (it's a while since I've been down that way) but isn't there another coffee shop in the Rosewell area, right next to the Penicuik-Dalkieth path? (Might not be as good as the one in the Steading, though.)

@stubbsie, we came in from Gladhouse direction on the roads but went out on the Dalkeith path. Heading East.

I think heading west from Rosewell where the path turns to chuckies there maybe is a cafe or a van and tables?
