    Hello all,
Looking for advice on a training programme/techniques if there are any HRM experts on here(!)
I've started training a little more seriously, and yesterday I did my second "proper" intensive session on the turbo trainer, and this time I stuck on a heart rate monitor. (My plan is to use the turbo for intensive workouts and use my commute for the low hr steady work.
I did a progressive 10 min warm up then middle ring, middle gear with the turbo resistance set on 5 out of ten I did 30 min fairly hard (about 90-95rpm). My peak HR was 187 but it was mostly sitting about 180.
Including warm up and (10 min) warm down my average was 160 bpm.
My resting (just woken up in the morning) HR is about 65.

So, is that too hard a session or is it about right? I'm intending tomorrow to do an interval/sprints type session. Anything I should working on specially?
My objectives are to build both speed and endurance.

    Just generally, advice sought ;-)

    Cheers,
    Smudge

Thanks RGT, a good read. I had a niggling feeling I'd seen it before, and upon checking, lo and behold, it's a complete lift from Cycling Plus's January edition!
I feel some zone 2/3 runs to work coming on once the mornings get a little lighter :-)
