Whilst patting myself on the back with remaining zen like under lot of abuse from mad William MMad on Balerno cares (to no avail, we now have cyclists moaning about the segregation so I have given up) It seems I am not yet at total Zen.

Going round a corner at Bankhead House Steading in the Glenbrook Road I was on m6 pal Tam’s shoulder, not quite two abreast more one and a half.

A large four by four was coming the other way bossing the road and driver most irate we were in his way.

    My Zen powers deserted me.

Ah the Zen Warriors. Like those bad priests in that danish drama Walter Presents (will that woman ever find her car keys) Ride Upon The Storm

@gembo: I think your zen is a long stronger than mine. I have just deactivated my nextdoor.co.uk account in despair at a posting from someone complaining about cyclists objecting to her using the Comiston Road cycle lane to reverse in to her drive (apparently it's "not safe" to reverse a protective metal box from the part of the 30mph carriageway on which motor vehicles are allowed to be driven, so you have to use the bit set aside for soft, squishy people instead) and the inevitable follow-up posts about compulsory registration for cyclists, how some cyclists are as dangerous as cars yadda yadda gammon fodder.

In my deactivation request I did suggest that they might consider exercising some more robust moderation, in order to reduce the incidence of ranty posts which are no help to anyone at all (except perhaps the poster), and thus contravene their guideline #1 for use of the site.

i can understand why someone might prefer to pull off a busy road to reverse into driveway, but I would also expect them to appreciate that a cyclist might not wish to encounter a reversing vehicle in front of them...
