Was driven at. By cat in black Range Rover. Close to murder farm. I was coming back down from Colzium Art Farm, that road is normally very quiet. Had noticed two other vehicles driving in to the Shooting Club. This was a bit further east almost at Murder Farm which also has new tenants.

He did stop his car and as I cycled aro7nd, he rolled his window down and said Private Road mate.

I proceeded without loss of Zen. Inside my head I thought, yes you have put up a lot of signs about this road being private very recently that appear to have made me traverse its entire length with increased frequency.

To put in context does seem to involve cycling down a public road to the Harperrig Fishery and SUP car park. So will have become busier during lockdown and perhaps the Shooters have not had completely open access to their pavilion? Or maybe the residents who live about a mile along the road have had too many nosey visitors? I was at the shooting range with The Iwrats once when they came to have a word. We let them climb up the hill a fair bit and then turned and left. However yesterday was totally empty apart from us and the locals/shooters/herbalists

Sounds like you have previous for non-tugging of your forelock for the people involved. Do their signs mean "KEEP OUT" rather than the usual "FINANCIAL AND ORGANISATIONAL CULPABILITY FOR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR DEVOLVED TO THE ADJACENT LANDOWNERS" interpretation?

@wingpig, from a very early age I observed my wee ma engaging with the Renfrewshire hunt near Uplawmoor. In her wee Austin 1100 with Vote Labour stickers. I see your man got in said the Master of the Hunt from his big horse. Sadly quite a right wing Labour MP

They have put up a lot of signs but closed no gates. The residences are all up private roads from the private road. Nobody is going on them.

Even the gun club is set back

Interestingly a gate was across the gravel road that maybe goes to Crosswood reservoir or runs out just short of it.

Never taken the road as always on road bike. Maybe just farming related. But I get the sense there is a new militancy out that way against the right to roam.

Is that the area where Freddy the Eagle disappeared?

No don’t think so. This is further west. The gun club is all clay pigeons I think. Nice clubhouse from the outside, has little terrace etc.

Eventful place is Colzium/Harperrig. Perhaps needs its own polis station. Would have helped out the farmer I met a couple of years back who was attempting to retrieve his quad bike from encamped thieves. Also:

GOMLs thriving and organising in the Pentlands:

“Meanwhile, I now have a free day on Sunday October 8th. I am extending a personal invitation to everyone to join me for a drink in The Steading at 3pm. I will be going for a long run before hand, exercising my rights as an individual hill runner to cross open land in a responsible fashion. Probably about 16 miles on a well known circuit. You might wish to do the same, but aim to finish by 3pm so I’m not in the pub on my own. Start when you like, no cutoffs, no support, no prizes, no organisation. Remember, group outings by club members are not classed as events, so feel free to join up with others.”
