    Has anyone attempted to report canal path damage / repair work needed? or have experience of it?

    I'd noticed some subsidence last week and this morning MrSRD had an off while en route to a vaccine clinic, i think at the same spot.

    Ah, there is a bit slumping down there (on the water side of the path) if I'm thinking of the right bit? Has been for a long time.

    I wondered if it would be where the roots have really ripped up the surface.

    Super strangely, the canal is on streetview (from 2016 though)

    Thank you for the heads-up. It is just about possible that I will be commuting out that way for work again before the end of the summer depending on how things progress. I have previously reported canal-related issues via Twitter using @scottishcanals with varying levels of eventual success...

    While checking the location on Google Maps, I noticed that the 'Old Swans Nest' has been added as a 'nature reserve' at the site of the lagoon by Murrayburn Road canal bridge. It has a rating of 4.4 our of 5 from ten reviews so far...

    @SRD: i guess I hadn't been out that way in a while.

    Same here - rode out to Ratho on Tuesday for the first time years*, to check out access to the EICC from the canal** - but I must have missed the subsidence. If it's to the side of the path next to the cut as Dave suggested then I would have been keeping well clear, being chicken.

    * As in, the last time I rode out that way, the posh Marina wasn't there!
    ** Theoretically possible, but not great IMO. There are steps up from the towpath with a cycle ramp alongside, but it's bloomin' steep and the ramp is wooden, so likely to be slippery when wet.

    @ejstubbs - A new path was considered to provide step-free access to the climbing centre, as part of the Wavegarden development. However, the engineering works which would have been necessary were deemed prohibitively expensive, so they went with the cycle ramp instead.

    Pretty sure there is a thread somewhere about EICC access... terrible, especially with kids, as many would be.

    iam impressed that the phone was water tight.

    saw a big multi-generational group magnet fishers on the canal on the same trip. they didn't seem to have caught much of interest.

    There is a tree branch blocking the tow path near steps to EICC. Passible if you can lift your bike. Reported to Scottish Canals.

    Spotted Dave this afternoon - canal towpath on way into office (i am still there but going home now).

    Dave was cutting back overgrowth to allow safe overtaking.

    (Just east of the bridge that goes over Lanark road and up the water of Leith, if anyone notices)

    There are some really thick, invasive looking plants growing on that stretch. Anyone able to ID?
