Certainly the tragic young girl stepping out is a gift to the NIMBY lobby. Of course, children step out between parked cars into the road too, as I well fear with my kids, but that doesn't count.

Main theme of the anti deputations is:

"Drivers can't be trusted to drive properly, so we can't make any road changes"

    Also: Uuurgh!

Indeed, was therefore particularly good that you mentioned the study comparing parking-protected and advisory cycle lanes.

Where exactly did the incident with the girl occur? I haven't used the Lanark Road lanes but I'd generally think lanes inside parked cars should be on the uphill sections with added crossings if necessary.

If the spaces are on downhill sections then it would probably merit a wider buffer area between the parked cars and the bike lane.

    Downhill side, opposite the park.

One obvious solution would be to move all parking over to the uphill side. Then put a pedestrian crossing in, just like the one that was put in on Maybury Road.

At the same time, tarmac the pavement around the corner at Dovecot Grove for just the minimum distance to install a couple of disabled parking bays with direct kerb access.

15 abstentions. Lib Dems and who else? The EPIC crowd? Scott Arthur?

    Greens.

Both libdem / greens abstained once their amendments had been dropped.

EPIC voted for the Lib Dem amendment, then the Conservative one when the Lib Dem one was off the table.

Interesting, so potentially next May there are three de-facto tory votes (for this purpose at least) that the real SNP, or labour, might win back?

emergency services dealt with a vehicle ‘struck by a parked car’

This is a particularly fine example for the sentient beings thread.

IF the last bit is true, presume someone left the handbrake off??

No poor subediting. In the story at the end they are back with the vehicle striking the parked car,
Still no sentient beings causing this though a someone was cut out of a vehicle aged 64

As predicted the post truth person from Currie WH has just tried to blame the Juni Green accident on spaces for people.

When told by someone else who also does not like SFP that he was making it up he was not able to retract.

In the universe ruled by the Supreme Gembo (I am merely her servant) making post truth remarks leads to disenfranchisement as only people who can prove they are sane are allowed to vote.

Seems sensible to me, as long as there's no catch.
