It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

I've had a couple of chats with local people on Facebook recently and it made me wonder if a facebook group specifically for SW Edinburgh active travel would be a useful thing. There are obviously local FB groups already (where Gembo fights the good fight) but sometimes the reception can be a bit hostile with people jumping in to moan about bike lanes etc.
Anybody got any thoughts on the wisdom of this? Or interested in such a thing?
I would join. There will be trolls the admin would need to remove.
I'm conflicted because one more group is maybe just diluting everything. However, it must be hard locally if you use the main FB groups. I don't remember ever seeing anyone ask about cycling from the WoL villages to work or anywhere else but plenty of anti-sentiment that I doubt really reflects everyone's views. In that respect it might create more of an audience locally that is less hostile to active travel / liveable streets that can help each other.
Good reasons for starting one.

Strictly speaking we don't do much walking/cycling in SW Edinburgh but I have requested to join anyway to bulk up numbers, even though it means I've probably just outed myself to Dave, who I happened to know "in real life" before I realised he was on this forum. I don't think this username was particularly anonymous anyway. :)
