I traversed part of the above road the other day, from its junction with the Auchendinny-Leadburn road to the turning for Gladhouse reservoir. There seemed to be a lot of dark patches along the edge of the eastbound side of the road. They almost looked as if people had been having fires there, but that would seem a little unlikely. Anyone know what might have been occurring along there?

On a separate subject: has anyone else noticed an increasing number of occurrences of people in motor vehicles drifting across the centre line on right-hand bends? Call me picky but I find this somewhat disconcerting when I'm coming the other way. I'd much rather not have my health and wellbeing put at least just because someone supposed in control of a motor vehicle is too darned lazy to turn their power-assisted steering wheel just a few more degrees so that their vehicle stays in its lane, rather than encroaching on the carriageway space of other road users.

Yesterday on Old Pentland Road I nearly had an undesirably close encounter with a loon in a BMW coming the other way who had drifted almost halfway across on to my side of the road. That sort of thing can spoil one's enjoyment of the ride somewhat (though admittedly not as much as if they took all your road space).

Even more worrying is when it's a humphing great lorry that seems intent on heading your direction

Yeah. If only cars and lorries would stick to the A-roads like they're meant to. Most of the B road traffic is rat running, no doubt.

"B" and four numbers should be a clue: Don't drive here unless you live/work along here

Let's start by giving all B roads with 4 numbers a 30mph limit. And B with 3 numbers can be 40.
