A heavy police presence has been reported on Ferry Road at Muirhouse, opposite the Drylaw Police Station.

Police have confirmed that a female cyclist has been taken to hospital after being seriously injured in a crash.

A section of the road has been taped off while enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received report of a crash on Ferry Road in Edinburgh involving a car and a cyclist around 9.05am on Wednesday, 1 September, 2021.

"The 33-year-old female cyclist has been taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.”

That’s one of my least favourite bits of road.

    Surprisingly narrow.

Masses of room for a completely separate cycle path and great potential for cycling (other side of road) on the service roads - just no easy access or continuity.

Relatively easy/cheap to sort, but I’m sure CEC thinks the various bits of NEPN in the area are enough…

That bit of Ferry Road is part of 'NEAT Connections': https://neatconnections.commonplace.is/about

I think the general idea was bidirectional in the grassy area before turning up Pennywell Road.

    Glad it’s being looked at.

Blue line on map is Easter Drylaw rather than Ferry Rd.
