Quick batch count of that video got to 390.
So even 10% error would be 350.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

My estimate of our group Fimm was 150-200 although it was hard as quite a few disappeared as soon as we hit Kelvingrove before I could get a decent video of the crowd to count (off to meet others/get coffee etc). It felt big. I think we had the bigger of the two groups in the end so even a rough split down the middle of those leaving Edinburgh makes it 150+
The group was long enough that I was able to get off on a railway bridge at the front as it was moving at about 10mph jump onto the road protector so I could look back and figure out what the queue of traffic was like behind (not big) and then get back on my bike and rejoin somewhere in the rear third of the ride. The little knot of riders right at the front doing blocking as we arrived in Glasgow was often 20-30 strong and that was nowhere near the bulk of the riders.
There was one lad on a MTB wearing jeans and a hoodie. He was cold after our last stop for a wee outside Airdrie. I set him to blocking junctions, waiting to the back and then told him to cycle back to the front in his biggest gear to report back to me on what was happening at the back. He did this a few times and reported that he was feeling "much warmer". Job done!
Many lovely stories of people who had joined and why.
A district nurse (retired) who was coming along for the march and was keeping up fine.
Two younger students who had never riden anything like this before. I had to tow them back on a couple times before bathgate but once they understood that things were far easier getting towed along in the group then they kept up fine.
CCE own Roibeard who dropped out after Bathgate to shepherd a loan rider who was desperate to make the march but who couldn't hold the pace we'd asked people to maintain. What a champ.
Fimm, Mrs ArobComp and the Cargo Bike Movement riders who helped close gaps and keep people together.
Two lads riding fixed gear bikes who dropped out for someones puncture, fixed it for them, then rode back towing them along at high pace catching us up at aforementioned pee stop.
Most of the above and At least 15-20 others who without question blocked junctions when I asked them to with confidence and good humour (sometimes a little overzealously though!).
All in all the memory of a rolling road block all the way into Glasgow from Edinburgh with only two short stops food stops and a wee stop is a wonderful one.
Excellent ride report Big Man
*blushes*
For the sake of full disclosure, I don't think I was fast enough for the fast ride and only made the march due to the encouragement of the aforementioned lone rider!

What a great day. I split as soon as we get to Kelvingrove and made it back to Tynecastle, only just missing kick off.
Highlights included the perplexed locals in small central belt towns and the banging tunes.
Glad that I finally got to find out what cycling in a peleton is like!
blocked junctions ... sometimes a little overzealously though...
