It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

I've noticed on Lanark Road that the double yellow lines are basically not adhered to the tarmac. They're mostly intact only because vehicles don't drive on them - but they've been powdered away at driveways.
Anyone a road marking geek? What's the name for this type of paint technology?
And when I say 'not adhered', I mean if you go down with a leaf blower to clean off the mulch it will blow the yellow lines away along with the leaves...
I had assumed, with absolutely nothing to back it up, that this happened when they didn't have time to wait for a dry day, and so painted them when the road was too wet.
The northern end of Gilmerton Road is the same.
This is one of my pet peeves. Compared to (say) alpine countries with even larger swings in temperature, our road surfaces are made from papier-mâché and the lines from candy floss.
Thermoplastic markings - applied too thick, or without a keying on to the road surface below (old paint not removed? surface wet/dirty?)
No parking spaces? Not a problem. Portable leaf blower in back of car.
A couple of places around my workplace got together (pre-Covid) and hired someone to put double yellow lines along the kerbs in hope to stop people (mainly from Sky) parking at our entrance, right at the junctions so that it was difficult for us to get in and out and once or twice the delivery lorries couldn't get in.
Mind you, we started with leaving 'polite notes' asking not to park there.
Those lines lasted only maybe 2 weeks before someone complained (probably the bird watchers who also park here but they are far more considerate with their parking) and a crew from the council came to remove those lines. It took a few hours of blasting with something.
Anyway, it's not a problem anymore as they work from home.
Burn off with an industrial flame thrower thingy but not necessary it seems as household appiiances will suffice. Sheet of newspaper and an iron..
