It's looking possible that the Conservatives will be the smallest party on the council.

    Confirmed.

thank goodness. Last year I was seriously worried they might take control.

@SRD: I was still thinking that right up until about 10am today.

are Lib Dems the "nice pro-motorists"?

They are suitably 'back to the future' for a population that's looking forward to more EVs and low carbon flights from airport.

Consultations not necessary on anything that makes driving easier and walkng/cycling harder.

Unlikely to find a LibDem protesting about Home Office deportations (last night around Nicolson St) or supporting direct action.
LibDems stuck to Covid rules to - or at least perception is that they did.

Good that Greens got representation in East Lothian and Borders. Areas where people traditionally are more 'small c' conservative.

Well, providing the Greens are in a good mood we should at least avoid the prospect of a new LibLab Pact. Tories got a pasting, always nice to see. If the Greens can prod the SNP to be more ambitious and the ostensibly pro-cycling elements in Labour and the Liberals follow through rather than gurning endlessly about consultations and local roads for local people, this is probably about as good a result for active travel in Edinburgh we could have hoped for given all the givens.

    Final results:

    SNP - 19
    Labour - 13
    Lib Dems - 12
    Greens - 10
    Conservatives - 9

SNP/Labour would have a majority of one.

Apparently Labour are under orders from head office (Scotland Branch) not to enter into coalitions though.

    We shall see...

Difficult to see a workplace parking levy or road user charging getting through with those numbers - unless Labour choose to ignore national policy.

Our ward has four councilors and the Green chap came in fourth (in first preference votes), but lost out to the SNP second candidate due to vote transfer.

    SNP 2, Lab, Con

Well I didn't expect today to go like this. A combination of Green & Alba votes leaves me no longer a councillor. Pretty ironic really. Still, more time to campaign for independence. Onwards & upwards.

Seems to be quite a few anti-Green comments coming out of the Glasgow SNP. Trouble at t’mill?

Not looking at any Tweets/details, but I know there are also comments about how things might have turned out differently if the SNP had done things more strategically/nuanced than ‘just vote SNP’.

    - either with the aim of getting more pro-Indy Cllrs generally or an acknowledgment that they are working with Greens in Holyrood.

In the CCWEL heartland, Murrayfield and Corstorphine, there are 3 councillors, SNP, Labour and Lib Dem. It used to SNP, Lib Dem and Tory. The SNP will be Frank Ross, who supports cycling. I was groaning slightly at the Lib Dem as they have been obstructive there, but it’s Alan Beal, who is a Spokes member.

I’ve got these results from Cocteau Triplets’ spreadsheet, so hope they’re accurate.

@chdot - According to your link the Lib Dems took 2 out of 3 for Corstorphine/Murrayfield.

@Rosie. That’s right, 2 out of 3 are Lib Dem in Murrayfield. Beal & Davidson

I think @cocteautriplets was just showing 1st preference votes and not who got elected.

Definitely 2 Lib Dems & Big Frank in Corstorphine/Murrayfield

Talks are expected to take place over the weekend to decide Edinburgh’s next administration, with a Nationalist-Green coalition looking the most likely outcome, after the SNP was re-elected as the biggest party on the council.

In Colinton/Fairmilehead it looks like most people gave up voting after listing 1,2 & 3.

Less than 10% carried on to the end and mainly just for a protest vote against someone...

As an example of where not voting to the bottom of the list may have caused a different result.

Phyl Meyer who had previous stood as a Green in Edinburgh lost out in Oban & the Isles by 0.3 of a vote at Stage 9 when 450 votes worth of the 3,600 votes not going to any remaining candidates as the voters had given up marking down their preferences and so had no impact on the final 2 candidates selected but could easily of had if they'd had continued.

Listed here by numbers in each party

    https://democracy.edinburgh.gov.uk/mgMemberIndex.aspx?FN=PARTY&VW=TABLE&PIC=1

Individual details on CEC site often include social media.

Anyone assembling a list of those on Twitter?

Amusing side note to the Morningside ward vote. As a proportion of total expressed preferences at each round - the Tories got more than twice as many seventh (last) preferences (35.7%) as first preferences (17.6%).
