Michael Broadwith is going to have an attempt at the Edinburgh to London record tomorrow.

Starting at 6am he hopes to be in London before midnight!

Any early risers fancy giving him a send off?

Dot watching will be available for everyone else, with him crossing the border at 8.30

That is good going. Is it A1 all the way?

It used to be, but motorwayfication of the A1 means that it has to take a different route.

He also going over Carter Bar rather than winding round the Coast on the A1

Ooh, he took the Newcastle turn maybe off to visit Tubby Brewster though he was more Morpeth way (Bob Mortimer character)

I thought he might go Hexham

Just realised he's the same guy who did Edinburgh to York in 8 hours, a couple of years ago. I remember he went up Carter Bar faster than some of us would ride down it.

Are you mad? Hexham is way too hilly

Ah yes I remember now, I cycled a way down then flat for tiny bit then away up again then away down to England’s highest village.

He's going like a train. Av speed 22mph and 300 miles in. Think he'll do it?

Still averaging 22mph. Just north west of Royston (Herts) at the moment. 340 miles done, not far to go.

Looks like he nearly did it, but not quite. Still on the move, very close to finish but running about 6 minutes past the 17 & 1/2 hours target at time of writing.

Around 17:45ish, which would be a new record.

He was 40mins from the post office in London’s and the Road was closed for resurfacing.

Took his S-Works on the new tar.

Quick post from the man on another forum

Provisional new RRA record - Edinburgh to London in 17.42.47

It is impossible to know where to start when thanking everyone for the what they have done to help us achieve this goal. Helen was amazing as always, running the top support crew in the business, but the sheer number of people out by the roadside totally blew my mind.

Coming through from Huntingdon to Royston I had assumed it was no longer going to happen, I was mentally writing my assembly on failure for after half term. But then the A10 from Royston to the M25 was like nothing I have ever experienced in all my years cycling, people cheering from every layby and every bridge all the way in. Cowbells, whistles and shouts pulling me out of my gloom and back to the positive place that I need to be in.

Those people made me find something inside that I didn't have and my 32kph turned into 38kph. Thank you everyone - I will try to write more later, but for now I am pretty broken!
