Trump claims Iran's president has asked US for a ceasefire
The US would only consider a ceasefire with Iran if the Hormuz strait opens, Donald Trump has declared on social media.He said Iran had asked for a ceasefire, writing:
Iran’s New Regime President, much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE! We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!! President DJT

In Ireland the protests have sparked fuel shortages and travel disruption, and in Norway lorry drivers taking part in the “diesel roar” protest descended on the capital. The Irish government put the army on standby to help remove blockades and police warned some protesters to disperse or face arrest, prompting defiance and threats to continue the disruption for weeks if necessary.
Protests were endangering critical supplies of food, fuel, clean water and animal feed, the police force, An Garda Síochána, said in a statement. “This is not tolerable and is against the law.” Government leaders have accused protesters of holding the country to “ransom”.
The blockade of ports and a refinery meant Ireland was on the verge of turning away oil deliveries and losing its supply, the taoiseach, Mícheál Martin, told RTÉ. “It is unconscionable, it’s illogical.”

The research comes as the government attempts to rewrite planning rules to make it easier to build intensive livestock farms despite concerns about water pollution, air quality and local opposition, the Guardian revealed earlier this month.
Ammonia emissions are dangerous to human health and the environment. In the UK, agriculture is responsible for 89% of national emissions of the nitrogen-based gas used to produce fertilisers and released from livestock manure. Industrial intensive animal farming increases the environmental and health burdens associated with ammonia, CiWF says in a report published on Thursday alongside the map.
Once in the air, ammonia reacts with other pollutants to form particulate matter – PM2.5, which is considered one of the most dangerous forms of air pollution. The Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollutants (COMEAP) estimated human-made PM2.5 exposure was responsible for between 28,861 and 29,000 premature deaths in the UK in 2010.
Modelling shows that reducing agricultural emissions could dramatically cut mortality rates.

One vision of the UK’s future involves a decarbonised economy powered by clean, renewable energy. Another involves making the UK an AI superpower.
The government departments responsible for these two visions do not appear to have agreed on their numbers.
The Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) thinks AI datacentres will consume 6GW of electricity by 2030. The Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) appears to think they will use less than a tenth of that.
Tim Squirrell, the head of strategy for the NGO Foxglove, said: “The government’s cluelessness over the environmental impact of datacentres would be laughable, if it weren’t so alarming.”
