“Energy” is once again BIG NEWS.

    Well the price/cost is.

Expect more misinformation about Net Zero targets being the real problem - https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/feb/09/costs-going-green-tories-energy-bills-environmental-levies-tax

Once upon a time ‘nuclear electricity will be so cheap it won’t be necessary to meter it - new buildings can save money by not having light switches’.

    Recently -

‘The future is renewables - wind, solar etc. Biomass seems to have receded as a serious option due to question marks about how reduced/neutral carbon it is/could be.

Except ‘it seems climate change will mean less reliable wind’(?)

Tidal remains ‘the next big thing’ (maybe?)

    Hydrogen to replace ‘natural gas’(?)

    And now

Some progress on the other, long promised, technical fix -

Prof Ian Fells, the emeritus professor of energy conversion at the University of Newcastle, said the record-breaking release of fusion energy was “a landmark” in fusion research. “Now it is up to the engineers to translate this into carbon-free electricity and mitigate the problem of climate change,” he added.

    Anyone any wiser than me?

(Well obviously that goes without saying, but you know what I mean. There are CCEers with genuine knowledge/expertise in this area.)
