Well past time for a service on the suspension forks. Rockshox Recon Air. Not attempted before.

Baffled, though. This is the underside of the air side of the fork, should detach (I think!) to reveal a bolt. Don't want to apply enough force to break it, it doesnt seem to just pull off. Or does it? Attempting to unscrew it just ratchets rather than coming out any more than the limit.

It doesn't resemble the examples in youtube vids which are set screw retained.

    Anyone know how this works?

    Thanks!

You could have a trawl through here to see if there's a service manual available for your forks: https://www.servicearchive.sram.com/service/rockshox/7,104,434
    or here: https://www.sram.com/en/service/service-search?t=recon

Page 7. "Remove rebound adjuster knob"! Implies it "should just" pull off.

    Hmmm. Tyre levers maybe?

Does indeed "just pull off", though considerably stiff and crusty!

The rebound adjuster on my Recon RL forks is recessed quite a way inside the fork lower leg, and pulls out quite easily. Almost a little too easily I sometimes think, but it's not fallen out yet...
