is a subject that gets mentioned on CCE occasionally.

This is a bike/web site that has been getting some Internet mentions recently (including the fact that this one is very similar to some European designs).

There is a long examination of the phenomenon of "shimmy", which I have experienced - particularly with front loads.

There was an article in my friend's "The Great Outdoors" magazine about that contraption. Guy took it for a stroll into the back country of the Cairngorms. He seemed quite enthused about it for long distance trekking if you had a reasonable trail, but less so over rough ground or where you had some climbing to negotiate. I could appreciate how it could be equally a blessing and a pain the aerosol all at the same time.

Cyclone was very good for 200 miles round trip through Suffolk.

Both bikes were similar so interesting comparing with and without trailer. Seat bags + panniers load the suspension. Trailer leaves this alone.

Only downside is size of Cyclone. Folding / dismantling trailer like Carryfreedom more viable if you need to stow on a train.

I tow a few stone of wean behind Brompton or Pashley and it makes no difference to the handling. It does slow you down a bit.

I replaced the original hitch which clamped to the nearside chain stay with a CarryFreedom hitch. It attaches to the end of the axle now. This was partly for speed of attachment and partly because the original hitch often fouled Brompton wheels and the Pashley brake reaction arm.

The current CarryFreedom hitch is a sort of rubber lollypop which fits over the tow bar and secures with a lynch pin. They haven't updated their web page with this design.

Based in Ayreshire too, I wonder if they do a discount if you come pick it up (by bike of course)?

I wondered about picking one up in person. When I ordered the hitch the guy was very helpful. I wasn't too bothered about a discount it just seemed like a nice idea to roll over there. There is a cycle lane marked on the moor road from Eaglesham but it's also where a Police officer was killed last year.

They don't manufacture the trailers there but the hitch is made in the UK.
