zzzzzzzzz Cameron Rose isnt half predictable .... the best thing for cycling is to make road surfaces better for everyone. That's it. That would seem to be the total sum of their commitment to cycling.

How did Scott Arthur do? I hope he was properly challenged on Labour opposition to the WPL and not allowed to get out of it with his usual weaselly scamper.

It was handbags between Scott Arthur and Lesley Macinnes at one point, until Ewen stepped in. Petty point scoring on SA's part didn't impress me much.

The event was quite good, although you might sum it up thus:

Arthur: I have loads of bikes, and me, I love doing research.
Dijkstra-Downie: I'm still new to this but I come from a country where they do this stuff properly.
Macinnes: I love my e-bike. I'm in charge here, this is how the system works, and here are loads of projects we're doing.
Miller: I'm better than you give me credit for. Inclusive design will mean cycling and walking is better for everyone.
Rose: Look, if I argue with you I must take up a contrary position. Cycling is great, sure, but we won't do anything apart from fixing potholes at Causewayside.

Re Dijkstra-Downie; it's a real shame she's a member of a party that seems determined not to do much of anything at all then eh :P

Not doing much would probably be an improvement for the Liberal (with the truth) democrats. Their leader is still trumpeting about how proud he is to have arranged a campaign against spaces for people.

Dijkstra-Downie is pretty active on Twitter and seems to have been involved in the community campaign to improve Wardie Beach. I’ve been impressed with her - I think she would be a good addition to the council. Like Hal Osler, she doesn’t seem to get drawn into the really petty party-politicking that plagues the rest of the council.

Sanne grew up in the Netherlands, where she enjoyed the freedoms that safe cycling infrastructure brings to children and young people. She moved to Scotland to study at the University of Edinburgh, and never left.

I wish she wasn't a lib dem. I'd vote for her as an independent in a heartbeat.

    Sanne was excellent.

@Dave - I'm swallowing all my normal party and constitutional allegiances and voting for active travel this council election. I really do wish there weren't parties in local politics.

    Recording of hustings.
