"It said all its trains would have spaces for up to 20 cycles as well as bulky sports gear in a dedicated carriage."

That must be incorrect? I assume they’re actually referring to the new cycle carriages in the highlands?

The article is wrong. The "dedicated carriage" will only be available on the West Highland line. There will be a few more spaces made available on other services.

It said all its trains would have spaces for up to 20 cycles as well as bulky sports gear in a dedicated carriage.

Well, “up to 20” - fine but essentially meaningless. BUT VERY WELCOME!

“as well as bulky sports gear in a dedicated carriage” great, but how many and where?

EDIT that just the Explorer which has already started(?)

Obviously great news, now key is for it be clear which trains both from the outside and also on SR website/app plus RealTimeTrains etc.

(And better booking - mentioned on other thread.)

Yeah great news, but I can't base a holiday on hanging around train stations hoping to get on the train.

@steveo, go on holiday to the train station? My pal Joe a lover of train spotting and beer thought he had died and gone to Heaven when he discovered a bar on the platform of Porthmadog Railway Station when he was on holiday with us many moons ago.

Did enjoy visiting the haymarket office, I could sit and watch the trains rather than talk to people.

The great writer Penelope Fitzgerald has a novel The Beginningof Spring set in Moscow 1912, everyone should read this great Russian novel written by a little old English lady. Sections in the Moscow train station are outstanding. Also contains Dundee Keks and a bear getting drunk.

Hugo Cabret is great graphic novel set in Paris station. Was made into movie by Scorsese?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970179/ - good film, would happily watch it again but I don't think it's ever been re-shown on free-to-air TV. (I do keep an eye out for such things.)
