    "between Colinton and Slateford"

Sergeant Scott Walker of Edinburgh policing explained: “Officers are aware of a number of incidents between Monday, 18 April and Wednesday, 27 April, 2022 in which people have been pushed into a canal.

“In connection with our enquiries, we are searching for a white man in his sixties with a possible tanned complexion. He is between 5ft 7in and 5ft 10in, is of medium to stocky build with grey and balding hair.

“He was wearing dark clothing and was seen in a maroon jumper on Wednesday, 27 April.

“There will be increased patrols in the area.

Uh-oh... I see that EEN helpfully added a picture of the WoL(?).

Police Scotland tweet says this happened near Meggetland and shows a photo of the towpath under the footbridge that links Allan Park and Craiglockhart.

whereas road.cc story says WoL. presumably they're using same sources?

road.cc state that the EEN is their source. Makes you wonder how little EEN journos actually know about Edinburgh. They can't even get the basic geography of the city right.

but the police quote that road.cc uses explicitly says 'Canal'.

    and a Scottish journalist too!

I'm *sure* that when I first read the article it was talking about WoL, which is probably what road.cc picked up, it looks like EEN then later fixed up the article.

Still haven’t fixed the photo though.

At first I thought that was the aqueduct hiding in the background, but looks more like Dean Village!

Reckon the photo is Spylaw Street in Colinton Village.

That's what I was thinking (albeit wasn't very certain).

This is covered by road cc and headlined "river" instead of "canal".

Also it made to a Canadian cycling magazine.

Ha ha - the Canadian cycle magazine manages a more accurate article than our city's paper of record of 150 years.

    FROM THE ENEWS EDITOR

Inaccuracies are rare and always corrected. We will correct that erroneous image.

Walking on the canal last night just east of Meggetland, we say a police officer patrolling. asked him where the incident had occurred. he said 'a bit further on from here' .

He confirmed that there had been *two* recent incidents.

Asked him if it was a 'new' pusher-inner (as the description seemed to suggest) and he was very cautious. Said something like 'we'll only know that if someone identifies them'.
