MissAdventures for teenage (and soon to be teenage) girls

    Thought I'd share this excellent initiative with the forum.

    Borders based 'MissAdventures' have set out to encourage more cycling participation amongst girls to fight against the common dropping out of active pursuits by girls as the hit the teenage years.

    My 10yo daughter has just signed up for an overnight bothie trip with them next month.

    They have said that with sufficient interest they will look to arrange further trips..

    This seems to be a neat follow on from work that Lee Craigie and the Adventure Syndicate did with girls from Dingwall Academy, delivering entries in an MTB event, and a 2-day, self supported, off road ride Contin-Ullapool around the back of the hill, including a bothy overnight

    This is an option for fully self supporting using the Citylink 961 (Contractor D&E Coaches) out & back, but making sure not to clash with riders coming in from ferry

    For the Borders some real opportunities to work with Scotrail & Craigs of Campbeltown (Borders Buses) plus Stagecoach (Western Scottish) on connections to get out from Edinburgh, to really be self sufficient

    With Borders X62/X95 peak services every 30 min & up to 4 bikes if space available a large group could get into Borders/up country relatively easily

    Negotiable & proven in past could see up to 16 bikes on a 3-coach Borders Railway service

    Edinburgh CTC DA also used to do rides to Polmood Hut
