Our strategy is clear that catering to forecast unconstrained road traffic growth is simply not sustainable – so we continue to focus on investment in public transport and supporting active travel. We also know that it is crucial for new and emerging technology to be used to its full potential to boost physical and digital connectivity, in turn supporting living well locally and reducing private car use.

We will work with Police Scotland to develop a one-year pilot project to develop an online reporting system, enabling anyone to upload camera footage of dangerous driving. The Road Safety Framework Fund has provided grant funding to Police Scotland. In 2022, Police Scotland will examine the feasibility of extending the National Dashcam Safety Portal (NDSP) scheme to Scotland, with a view to undertaking a one year pilot in early 2023. This online reporting system which enables anyone to upload camera footage of dangerous driving, currently operates in police forces in England and Wales.

Wow - that article really puts my teeth on edge. The author greets the prospect of more spending on active travel in the same manner as the Queen finding an un-flushable floater in one of the Windsor Castle toilets.

In better news our own Dave McC is published in the Currie and Balerno news with a belter of a letter about cycle lanes and how big majority of councillors now support them in SW embra and FU Su Weberbarmy. And the mad prof. Though he declines to mention him.

Plans for micromobility in Scotland have been welcomed by a shared transport charity.

Transport Scotland has published the second delivery plan for Scotland’s National Transport Strategy, including a commitment to investigate micromobility.

@Morningsider, you can almost hear Douglas Fraser's gears grinding as he waits impatiently in his motor in a large queue of other single occupant drivists at one of those dratted "bottlenecks".

Police Scotland’s inaction has left Scotland’s roads less safe following their decision to drop plans for a new road safety tool allowing the public to submit video evidence of road crimes, according to Cycling UK.

The National Dashcam Safety Portal (NDSP) would provide an online portal where members of the public could report dangerous driving or other road crimes by uploading footage directly to Police Scotland for review.

Police Scotland is the only police force in Great Britain without such a system.

The hellscape of dealing with Polis Scotland is well documented in this article:
