That’s a great piece, and this isn’t even the best bit -

I met him again in the spring of 2006 in Tuscany, I didn’t know he’d asked me for a photograph seven years earlier. He was part of the GB Academy program, we found ourselves riding alone together on a climb near Montecatini, he was bright red and sweating profusely talking loads and telling me about his recent win in Berlin and how he knew he was the fastest sprinter in the world. I thought he was insane.

The cynical me says it’s all a publicity stunt organised by the team bosses, with someone lined up to stand aside.

    Hoo no!

I think Shuggiet is scared that micro-SRD might beat him again...

Whatever my cynicism, doesn’t seem to have been a last minute/borderline decision -

Some shocking adverts but soon terrible things will be happening to donkeys Slippy for the time trial.

I didn't enter as I'm disappointed no Cav. I'm sure once Geraint is in green I'll get into it though. In the meantime I've cancelled my order for quickstep flooring in my kitchen.

    Vlasov and Sagan wearing balaclavas

Geraint smashed the last quarter of the TT in the even heavier rain

Baby bears are terrified. Apart from that I would say has been an actually interesting time trial

190km to go: Massive crowds line the route. Bradley Wiggins, on a motorbike and in the thick of it for Eurosport, describes them as ‘Unbelievable’.

“There are some very narrow roads in parts, particularly in the final,” he observes. “It’s going to be dangerous today.”

Please, keep it sensible if you’re out on the road ...

You kinda assume Cav wouldn’t have managed that.

I'm in a different fantasy league that Mr fimm put together. I put together my team at the last minute, without a great dealt of thought - "oh, I need another domestique, I've heard of him, I'll have him..." - Yves Lampard!

(The best ever TDF competition we entered was one Mr fimm was in some years ago where you were allocated one rider at random, and if they won a stage you got a prize. We got some bloke called Peter Sagan who we'd never heard of before. We know who he was by the end of the tour... we also got quite a lot of free stuff, and a nice jersey advertising the shop that ran the competition...)
