Around five young riders whirring around the Meadows. All in black with E-dirt bikes. Powerful middrive models with throttles so not much pedal action. Fast too.
Been told that they carry ketchup to squirt on anyone getting too interested so didn't get image.
Others were phoning police but they are aware as been on twitter for a while. They use Innocent and other paths but not usually so visible.

If the cops won't do anything about them in the Meadows during the Festival, it's pretty clear they're not bothered at all.

Saw a bunch earlier this week blowing through a red light along salamander street wearing balaclavas and deliberately intimidating pedestrians They then went down along Seafield prom. We cycled down road to avoid.

Met Police have produced an idiots guide to spotting Class Q mopeds masquerading as EAPC, As yet this has not circulated with any parts of Police Scotland

There is also a plague of them in Glasgow, widely used by Deliveroo riders, many I suspect are doing this work as it flies under the radar for those with restrictions on their work visas - or possibly, as new arrivals they are awaiting the processing of their papers (eg asylum seekers), and as such cannot work, and can officially only get £15/day for any voluntary work they do, to cover food and travel expenses.

Some murky grey areas and exploitation in the gig economy. I suspect

Class Q mopeds can be electric or fossil fuel powered, but with speed limiters, restricted power, and require insurance, registration (Form V5?), and the rider must have a driving licence.

Only a matter of time before someone gets badly hurt in an RTC and then there will be a rapid reaction

I can't really bring myself to have any great enthusiasm for chasing e.g. delivery riders that aren't involved in accidents, not while we have an epidemic of real road violence from drivers going unaddressed. Gangs on cross bikes (ICE or electric) a bit different
