Before covid I had it in mind to do a second PBP as a 40th birthday present, but after two years without even a commute, it's off the table :(

Vaguely Yes, but not in 2023. Being just after the start of the school term put it firmly off the table for me next year.
Are you thinking about it?

PBP is definitely a ride of extremes. There's all the people who line the route setting out trestle tables with food/drink at all times of the day and night. Then there's the scenery.
However, there's also some atrocious riding from riders which makes you wonder quite how they got through the qualifiers in one piece. I had 3 extremely close misses last time.
Probably my most memorable ride but I wouldn't do it again in case my luck ran out.

@acsimpson kind of. I'm put off by the thought of getting to the start line. Also the numbers of rides; as @cyclops notes, and that issue put me off sportives.
PBP certainly distorts the home calendar!

@cyclops top tips for PBP? Apart from sharp elbows!

I saw some pretty poor group riding on LEL too, although given that it's open to anyone taking a notion to sign up perhaps that's not too surprising.
Day 1 saw echelons forming upto and over the centre line but riders would then swerve in front of you if you tried to go up the inside.
At least if you rode at your own pace there wasn't generally anything to worry about from other riders.
