Was chatting to person doing ride train ride on a Brompton this morning

We must be close to tipping point now? far out doing deliveries and lots of young families ditching cars?

On the train the family take the Brompton on the Cargo bike to give them the options,

“We must be close to tipping point now?”

    Unlikely

There remains a small (and growing, but small) number of people who choose to ‘ditch their cars’ and not just because they can’t afford them.

Over the next year it’s quite likely that more will give up cars mostly for financial reasons not cycling/lifestyle reasons.

MORE people would just cycle if it was ‘easy’, ‘safe’ etc.

No real sign of (much) better cycle provision any time soon.

Cllr SA prefers PT, by which he means expecting SG to give him £1bn for a new tram line.

SO MANY small things could be done for a fraction of £1bn.

But once again so many small things - like repainting basic road markings - are revenue. Big stuff is capital…

A classic bit of missing markings -

Not only is this particular one *bad*, but also dangerous.

There’s a left filter, and it’s on a bus route.

Just great for a ‘new’ bike user.

Cost remains a huge factor for cargo bikes (well eCargo bikes anyway).

Even with Raleigh as a £4500 ‘cheap’ option the UA is £6k and reise & muller so much more.

It is a very small subset of people that can buy them or have access to an unlimited cycle2work scheme to buy one through. Many employers are still limited to Halfords and a £2k limit..
