According to EBC I can get the small hole in my Shakedry patched next to Musselburgh Town Hall.
Can anyone confirm?
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

Dunno about Musselburgh, but Alpkit (Causewayside) claim to fix (any brand of) outdoor clothing:
Scottish Mountain Gear are in Musselburgh but I don't think it's them that has a shop at the Town Hall
Thanks for alpkit tip I have twenty quid with them
And yes Scottish Mountain Gear
The place I know about is in Newhailes Industrial Estate off the roundabout at Newhailes Estate - that's Scottish Mountain Gear that Cyclops links to.
They cleaned my down bag for me very satisfactorily. Apparently Tiso are sending people there because Tiso have stopped doing repairs themselves.
Agree that Alpkit would also be worth investigating.
As a Musselburger the only shop in that area I can think of would be the Timpsons.
EDIT: Also jealous of the Shakedry! Lovely bits of kit if a bit pricey. Keep looking out for them popping up for sale but alas never in my size
.@MCairney, the Tempest2 from Galibier has many reviews comparing it to Shakedry at fraction of cost (I got mine three years back in big EBC january Sale). It doesn’t have the four way zip that m6 Shakedry has and the purple colour way not available in Large but I nearly bought it .
Also a shot out for the level pro waterproof. It's kept me bone dry for hours at a time.
It's also almost certainly available in their black Friday offers and Strava might give you a further 50 off.
Alternatively if you ask me (or any other existing customer) I can give you a code which gives us both freebies.
Looks like my phone autocorrected le col to level. Hope it didn't confuse anyone.
Confused me so thanks for correcting the auto correct
Galibier Tempest 2 is a good jacket but preferred it when it was available in orange
I had (and unfortunately lost) a Galibier Tempest packable jacket in turquoise to go with my Bianchi though I stopped wearing it when I got mistaken for a Deliveroo rider!
Best get it repaired quick gembo
"Gorewear says, “Gore-Tex Shakedry is and will remain a central part of Gorewear product offering to serve the needs of endurance athletes in all weather conditions. Unfortunately, the Gore-Tex Shakedry technology is no longer offered by Gore Fabrics due to ongoing supply challenges, but we are excited about the Gore-Tex Shakedry technology and therefore did invest into our inventory position last year to ensure we can offer it until the current inventory runs out.”"

Buried. Within the story is the info about Shakedry being susceptible to damage due to being a single membrane without protective layer
Reading that paragraph blows my mind. As far as I can tell Gorewear is owned by goretex who also produce gorefabrics. So They are essentially saying that although they are retiring the fabric they are going to keep using it for as long as they have planned.
As the article also points out they wouldn't be retiring it unless they already know what will be replacing it.
So really there's nothing to see here other than that there will be another premium fabric that's presumably considered even better than shakedry. Or perhaps it's just available in other colours.
"While the Shakedry fabric has been great for its characteristics as a cycling jacket (waterproofness, breathability and lightweight), the membrane also contains PFOA [ed. Perfluorooctanoic acid] chemicals, and Gore is dedicated to being PFOA-free by 2025, so the future of Shakedry was always limited," explained Steve Chapin, brand strategist at Castelli. "Gore is dedicating their engineering resources to next-generation sustainable fabrics so we can understand their decision to focus on the future."
Supply chain issues undoubtedly play a part, but it appears that's not the sole reason. Shakedry is going away because the world - not only Gore Fabrics - is moving away from fluorinated polymers. It's not just affecting Shakedry, it's affecting ski waxes, cosmetics, car tyres, smartphone screens, and almost every aspect of modern society.
The change is going to transform the outdoor industry as we know it. Today we are talking about Shakedry but every Gore membrane from the first to the last uses the same basic chemistry. Gore as a brand is being asked to fundamentally shift its product and it's not just Gore. Durable water repellents are a key part of both membrane, and non-membrane fabrics and DWR uses fluorinated polymer chemistry as well.
