Just submitted below complaint to Lothian Buses. Anyone else experienced similar? The drivers of the 10 and 27 on my usual route never do this.
At about 9.15 on Saturday morning my 12 year old son and I were travelling into town (east) on the A70 using the bike lanes. As we came into town (between Chesser and Slateford), a number 35 bus - I think bus 552?) started overtaking us immediately before bus stops, so that we repeatedly had to come to a sudden stop behind it. My son is a strong cyclist and I was on an e-bike, so we were not moving slowly.
When we attempted to overtake -- while it was still stationary at the stop -- the driver would put on his indicators and pull out, even when we were already alongside it. (We never overtake if a bus is indicating to pull out.). At one point, the driver did this when there was a pedestrian refuge in the road, creating a pinch point while my son was in the main traffic lane.
I have always found Lothian Bus drivers to be considerate. It has always been my understanding and experience that they are trained NOT to overtake immediately before a bus stop.
I would appreciate you checking the footage and ensuring that all drivers are reminded that they should not overtake vulnerable road users immediately before they pull in to a bus stop.
