As reminded by gembo on inappropriate thread it’s PY on Friday.

AND the annual *event” where CCEers attempt to exchange gifts/pass on unwanted cycling/Edinburgh related items.

PY (historic name) happens (usually) on the big table in Söderberg on MMW (Middle Meadow Walk).

There was a time when people arrived about 7:30, now 8:08 seems more common, often with a nu wave about 8:31

In days of WFH (does that need explaining now?) some ppl stay for ages.

14.5% of people ‘forget’ it’s a PY day.

9.9% are detained by domestic crises.

    1% prevented by mechanical catastrophe.

The management reserves the right to ban bells (old joke).

Though perhaps that should be 6.5% 'forget' 8% forgot?

I don't think I can make this, but some years haven't we had a 'last Friday of work' meet up. That's when I remember bike parts being exchanged.

I'm potentially up for that - 16 December? - in addition to the 2nd?

I may be on the late shift tomorrow. Looks like my 'last Friday of work' will be Christmas Eve Eve.

I’ll most likely be there before 8.30 if anyone else is going

Good meet-up again though had a minor altercation with a driver right after on Forrest Rd when a driver just about squeezed me off the road. I suggested that next time it might be a good idea to use the mirror conveniently attached to the side of his vehicle! Was all low speed so not real risk of injury although I did have a moment when I did fear for the fate of my (Giant, Carbon) front wheel!

    Sorry to hear that @mcairney

    It was all happening

As Urchaidh and I left a young woman cyclist was taken out on the MMW path by a very wild dog. The owner appeared to be a very suntanned jogger who was treading a fine line between helping and admitting culpability. The dug was running about daft back down towards the six way junction of oaths.

Quite a clatter but hopefully no bones broken.

Thanks I’m fine and I’m actually proud of myself for managing to restrain my language. I’ve got no idea why the driver was drifting so close to the kerb though. My initial thought was he was turning left down Candlemakers Row (and just neglected the mirror and signal parts of MSM) but they drove straight up George IV after our “discussion” though they might have changed their route out of embarrassment!

Sorry to hear about the jogger dogger combo on MMW. Hope the woman cyclist is OK. IMO dogs should be on leads on all shared paths and it should be an offence not to but it would be right down the list of police priorities I expect.

Good to see folks, sorry to hear about the crap driving @mcairney.

Wrt to the dog incident, I thought the woman in the middle was the errant dog owner and the jogger was just helping out, but I could be wrong. I defer to Gembo's observational prowess.

There was what appeared to be some handlebar straightening going on as I passed.

I had circumnavigated the mad dug by this point. Makes sense if the dog Walker was sauntering whilst allowing the dug to run about daft that the jogger would get there first.

Also the person in the middle might be holding a lead?
