Whilst the Scotrail Cycle Rail (or Active Travel) group has turned moribund, I've been learning & stirring with the CoMoUK conference where Andrew Marshall Roberts of Scotrail was lurking in the participants list, and might usefully be pressed to ask about cycling & Scotrail issues

This from our friends in t'North the lands of Sam Smiths, Newcastle Brown Ale and Theakstons

"The Cycle -Rail Working Group and Sustrans are seeking user feedback to help update the Cycle-Rail Toolkit. Members may recall that the Cycle-Rail Toolkit 2 was published by the Rail Delivery Group in April 2016 and remains the principal extant guidance to train operators on facilities for cycle users.

The feedback survey can be found here: Snap Surveys (welcomesyourfeedback.net)"

Get responses in over Christmas & remember to copy across for Scottish Parliament (& Jenny Gilruth if anyone (chdot?) might even be a constituent)

NB a 12-15 minute fast ferry Burntisland-Newhaven (pax only & carry on bikes) would radically change ideas for East Fifers coming to Edinburgh - typically 35-40 minutes Kirkcaldy-Edinburgh rather than a long drive round via bridges

You don't need to be a constituent to send emails to Ministers!

If not a constituent, it'd be better to use the email address on this page: https://www.gov.scot/about/who-runs-government/cabinet-and-ministers/minister-for-transport/

This is a wind up surely? How much did this cost and in what way did it benefit passengers?
    Not dignifying with new thread.

SCOTRAIL passengers were told to “mind the gap” by King Charles over the weekend – after the monarch recorded a special message to mark his coronation.

The King and the Queen Consort Camilla Parker-Bowles recorded the message for Network Rail to mark the coronation on Saturday.

It begins with the King saying: “My wife and I wish you and your families a wonderful coronation weekend.”

Camilla then adds: “Wherever you are travelling, we hope you have a safe and pleasant journey.”

It ends with the King saying: “And remember, please mind the gap.”

The announcement ran across UK rail networks, including in Scotland, and was devised by the UK-wide rail infrastructure organisation Network Rail.

Network Rail chief executive Andrew Haines said: “Our station colleagues are pulling out all the stops to welcome people to London for the coronation and it's fantastic that they will also be welcomed by King Charles III and Queen Camilla.”

Jacqueline Starr, chief executive officer of the Rail Delivery Group, said: “The coronation is a rare and exciting event and we very much look forward to welcoming passengers with this special message.

“It's wonderful that their majesties are including rail passengers as part of this historic moment.”

The customised announcement ran from Friday, May 5 until Monday, which is a bank holiday to mark the coronation.
