Snow in Eskbank (1 cm?) - not going out to check how slippery it is!

Ice on all side roads, and meadows paths.

have never seen MMW in this condition.

“have never seen MMW in this condition”

    Really?

Most of Ed is currently about -2.

This was forecast. Plenty of water about but it didn’t rain as much as Saturday and there was some sun.

‘Unfortunate’ that the freeze occurred ‘at the weekend’ but CEC not 9-5.

    Staff/resources shortage??

not in the past 10 years at least.

there's no residual grit at all, so just ice everywhere.

“not in the past 10 years at least”

    Useful and credible caveat

It appears it rained/sleeted between about midnight and 3, don’t know how much. Suspect it didn’t wash away the ‘grit’ because none had been put down.

A dusting in #edinburgh which seems to have melted on warmer surfaces and then frozen. It’s like an ice rink here.

I got myself ready to go the office. Computer in my backpack, walking poles ready. I have a 2 minute walk to the tram stop, which is always well salted. I opened the door. Ice. Very nasty looking ice.

    WFH day.

Pavements in Gilmerton were gritted yesterday morning, and again this morning.

Snowy rather than icy here; care needed, but far from treacherous.

Neighbour fell off her bike in front of me on SMW this morning. She dusted herself off and was OK.

Followed the bus routes today and got into the office in one piece. Bruntsfield Links paths looked like they hadn't been gritted. I saw several pedestrians slipping and falling on the pavement.

Clear evidence of anti #publichealth and integrated transport today. Despite costs to NHS of falls and broken bones due to ice, roads well gritted but pavements and steps to tram stop as slippy as ever.

I was in the big smoke today and went for a early morning walk in the Grange/Meadows areas. I wasn't comfortable on a number of sections of the paths and preferred to walk on the grass. The convergence point in the Meadows 100m below Peter's Yard was especially treacherous, as were some of the concrete sections of pavement south of the Meadows.

Came off myself today, the bit at the wee bridge at the colonies down the back of stockbridge is just a huge sheet of black ice, got off lucky though as it seems to just be some lightly bruised ribs. Had a bit of a gallows chuckle with my grandad as the patch of shonky paving slabs where he tripped last week is now also a giant sheet of ice due to the big pothole at the bus stop there, where every stopping bus slops a big wash of water up on to the pavement to freeze.

MMW still icy except where sun has melted ice.

NMW pretty good between MMW & Melville Drive - lots of sun on it.

Gilmore place still solidly iced in the gullies in most places.

Side roads in Polwarth still sketchy.

@SRD - thanks, looks like I'll have to follow the bus routes back home.

Balerno to Juni Green was Ok but Kingsknowe hill had no car tracks to go in. I was saved by the bollards. Then onto towpath which was ok if taken slowly

    The centre was fine,

Hopefully some gritting will transpire for tomorrow assume refrozen.

NMW & MMW heavily and recently gritted.

MMW had seen enough footfall for it to be crushed and start to melt.

Was pretty cold and icy this morning so stuck to the roads rather than chancing the cycle paths. A fair bit of confusion caused by the closure of Duddingston Low Road. I chanced it on the bike along with 1 or 2 others, emboldened by the Riddlers on the gravel bike. I suspect they closed the road so they didn’t have to grit it but it was passable with a bit of due care.

I was on a bus near the Bush Estate yesterday and the walking/cycling paths had been fully cleared - a contrast to the patchy pavements closer to the city.
