    The wall has collapsed underneath the new flats being built on the grounds of the old Tickled Trout. Shoring it up with bagged aggregate. Not sure it will be doing much for the fabric of the building.

    Some poor sod is going to buy those flats, only for them to be washed away in 5 years time

    Is this a case of developers trying to externalise costs? They build the properties and sell them before expecting the government to pick up the cost of flood defences.

    If it fails the company goes bankrupt and the directors are protected.

    I suspect the structure will be on a concrete slab sitting on multiple deep piles. When the river bank defences fail the slab sill be undercut and the piles exposed, it will just become a 21st century crannog.
