Started my ride today and immediately got a loud bang-rattle as the chain came off the rear hub cog and blew out the bottom half of the chaincase. For reference my bike is this style(https://www.emotion-ebikes.de/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/gazelle-citygo-c7-hms-2021.jpg) - my question is, is this a complicated repair that will require the whole back end to be taken apart as when I get a rear puncture, or can it be sorted while the bike is still largely intact? The cog doesn't appear to be damaged/worn and the chain still seems intact from what I can see of it.

I ask because I don't have tools & experience to sort it myself and most bike shops I've tried are reluctant to take ebikes/enclosed drives where they have to take the whole thing apart to fix it, but hauling it out to Corstorphine to Hart's means forking out for a taxi on top of the repair bill.

Whereabouts are you? I might be able to give you and your bike a lift in to Hart's (bike on the towball mounted carrier) if it turns out you can't fix it yourself.

That'd be much appreciated actually, will your rack be okay with the "low step" frame style? If it is just let me know what time would be convenient, I'm along at Goldenacre where Inverleith Row hits Ferry Road.

Pretty sure it should be. It's one of these:

I reckon clamping on to the seat tube would be the best option for your bike.

Unfortunately we're tied up pretty much all day tomorrow, but clear the rest of the week - yellow weather warnings permitting. Being a retired person, I should be able to fit in with your schedule. PM me a time that would suit you.

Ho Yodhrin, apologies, I've been tied up all day and only just noticed that you'd PMed me. In a stroke of genius, I managed to unsubscribe from the conversation before even reading your message :( Please message me again and I will try to be less cack-handed this time...
