THE Lothian population will hit one million within the next 12 years, prompting warnings of additional pressure on public services.

A report prepared by the health board and four local authorities said a rapid growth in the number of residents will see a 12-15 per cent rise.

Well, if "they'd" stop giving planning permission to build housing estates here, there and everywhere and turn everything into flats then it would be in "their" gift to do something about it. But is it necessary a bad thing? Who knows. As you say chdot, all those extra people doesn't have to mean a commensurate number of extra cars. Bah, who am I kidding..

Nah, all those new roads (space-hungry housing estates) will have nice little drives for people to park their cars on. Although I suppose they can park the family's third car on the pavement.

Well of course the garage is for the chest freezer, ride-on-lawnmower, the running machine and those bikes that get taken out once a year for a family spin :)

Tsk, you're not putting all that rubbish in my garage! Where would I put my bikes, my tools, my turbo trainer?!? (and whatever project is on the go at the moment...)

I hate the term "affordable homes". All homes are "affordable". Just not all people can afford them...

And "social housing"? Are there antisocial housings?

And why is everything that seems unfair now called "fair" and everything that's weak called "robust"?

    Humbug.
