We (mostly my wife) are involved, along with a bunch of other families, in a community plot at Telferton Allotments.

Going really well, so much so that we're probably turning down the offer of a plot for ourselves that has come up and sticking with putting all our time into the community plot.

(We used to have our own plot at Telferton, but it was too too much work when the youngest was a toddler)

Is that the one that was under threat a few years ago?

    Yeah, that's us.

As I understand it it's [squatting?] on land that used to be owned by the power station, was transferred to the SDA and when that was killed off it was bought by a developer - it's changed hands a few time since.

Developers keep trying to get PP to develop it, but it's a tough sell as it's designated green space. Also buried HT cable across the edge of the site. We must be due another planning application soon, though.

My mum's garden is being used by https://www.edinburghgardenpartners.org.uk/ which seems to be working out quite well.

Friend of mine is in the process of "controversially" beginning one:

    Interesting

Doesn’t the bowling club’s new owner own the green?

There is soon to be a consultation about what to do with the old bowling green in St Margaret’s Park: possibly a location for a community garden?

@chdot yes the new owner does own the green. The sale/purchase was agreed on the understanding that the green would become a community-use facility
