After an unexpected deflation earlier this week thanks to the Faeries stabbing my tyre with a miniature orange arrowhead, I spent a good 20 minutes today checking the rest of the treads and digging out loads of tiny sharp pieces of grit. Schwalbe Kojaks are pretty smooth running and nicely grippy, but they're not Marathon Pluses by any stretch of the imagination, despite their 'Raceguard' protection.
I've been riding the same roads and the same paths as usual, but seem to have picked up a lot of bits of glass in amongst the grit particles. I started to wonder if the mix of road treatment has been different this winter, or whether the Kojaks' compound is just softer and more susceptible.
Might be a good idea to give your own tyres a once-over!
