    ‘People shouldn’t drop litter’

‘The Council should pick it up’

But the ideal world has been postponed

‘Litter’ and ‘dog mess’ are the two most mentioned things when people are asked ‘what could be done to improve your environment’.

Sadly, sometimes, the people asking the questions, later dismiss the answers as ‘not what we were wanting to hear’.

Many volunteers already pick up litter along the Water of Leith, Wardie Bay or some cycle paths and local parks.

Join in (see below), start one or just DIY. (I have a small area I do every week. There was less to pick up after a bin was installed…)

Back to Drumbrae for more litterpicking fun!

Meet at Duart Crescent's shops at 11 on Sunday to clear the area!

If you've never tried it now is the time! Get fresh air, exercise and a laugh at what we find

We can lend you a litterpicker

Couple of hours spent this morning clearing part of the Barnton path and next to the Royal High School of new and very old litter!

Met some more of the local #LitterHeroes who quietly and regularly clear up too

A busy morning for our volunteers down at St Mark's Park.

Hazel coppiced and used to rebuild the fencing at the tunnel. Willow planted along the banks to help reduce erosion. Paths swept of debris Litter picked Biscuits eaten.

Symptoms of the fossil fuel industry - single-use plastics everywhere, leading to litter. Shut it down!

"Supermarkets and junk food emporiums shouldn't be allowed to produce litter"

Or better: junk food emporiums just shouldn't be allowed

LET’S INVESTIGATE TO STOP THE PLASTIC CRISIS

Nearly 100 billion pieces of plastic packaging are thrown away by UK households every year, and just 12% is recycled in the UK.

It’s time the government got serious about tackling the plastic crisis. You can help by taking part in The Big Plastic Count!

All blue down in Leith except for the rubbish awaiting a clean up once the bridge repairs are complete.

Just shows a small volume of the rubbish that comes down the river annually that without cleanups would head out to sea

I lived in Edinburgh a few years back, and while there I cleared some of the litter from the cyclepath. One of my "favourite" spots was the Dogshit Tree on the Ferry Road Path, just below the bridge at Boswell Drive.

Someone had repeately tossed their little black bags off the bridge while walking their dog, and they were caught in the tree where they dangled like noxious fruit.

Well done Friends of Pilrig Park + local shop Weigh To Go collabing on this morning’s sunny litterpick in the park & nearby streets.

    20 people, >20 bags of rubbish & a tyre!

I blame the supermarkets, soft drinks companies, and junk food emporiums. Let’s address the source of the problem
